Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation Presents: 

Hall of Fame 2011


The Papillion-La Vista School District is widely recognized for its quality education, outstanding teachers and generous support by members of the community. To celebrate the achievements of those who have been so instrumental to the District, the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation is establishing a “Papillion-La Vista Schools Hall of Fame”. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to honor outstanding graduates, educators and district boosters.

Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame (presented annually to three alumni)

The Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers and/or through exemplary public service.  Nominees must have graduated from the Papillion-La Vista School District.

Paul M. Fricke, PhD

A member of the class of 1984, Dr. Fricke has now established himself as one of the world's finest applied researchers and outreach specialists in the field of reproductive biology.  Along with his professional accomplishments, Dr. Fricke has earned this award as a leader, an educator and scientist, and as a community-member.

 

Lt Gen Frank J. Kisner

Class Of 1976, better known as Lieutenant General Kisner, Commander, NATO SPecial Operations Headquarters, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, in Belgium, Lt Kisner has held a variety of operational assignments and has commanded on many levels.  He is now one of 38 three-star generals in the half-million strong United States Air Force. 

 

Marylee Jepsen Sanders

A member of the class of 1962, at 18 years old Marylee Sanders, formerly known as Marylee Jepsen, represented Papillion in the Miss Nebraska pageant going on to represent Papillion and Nebraska in the Miss America Pageant in 1962.  Today, Marylee lives in Southern California and continues to serve actively and passionately in both her church and community.

 

Legendary Educator Hall of Fame (presented annually to two individuals)

The Legendary Educator Hall of Fame recognizes the district's legendary teachers, coaches, and/or staff members who have had a positive impact on the lives of those they encountered.  Nominees must have worked in the District for a minimum of ten years and must no longer be employed by the District.  A minimum of three supporting letters that clearly articulate how this individual had a positive impact on students and others is required.

 

Mary K. Peterson

Mary Peterson served over 25 years in the Papillion-La Vista School District first as a teacher at Trumble Park Elementary and then helping shape the Student Development Center.  Honored by the District as Papillion-La Vista Schools Teacher of the Year in 1988 and the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation as Elementary Teacher of the Year in 1993-4, her dedicated service has helped build the foundation for what, today, is now a very inclusive model of special services in the Papillion-La Vista School District. 

 

Ken Molzer

Ken Molzer has dedicated 30 years of service to the Papillion-La Vista School District teaching band at Papillion Jr. High School.  In 1971, he initiated the Papillion Junior High Instrumental Music Clinic for middle school and junior high school bands which continues to this day.  Retiring in 1999, Ken Molzer left a lasting impact on both students and our district. 

Community Booster Hall of Fame (presented annually to one individual or organization)

The Community Booster Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding support of the District through private support and/or service.  Letter of support must clearly articulate the nominee's outstanding service to the District.

Trish Suponchick

Trish Suponchick has served students of the Papillion-La Vista School District for decades, first as a teacher at Tara Heights Elementary School for 15 years, and then continuing her passion for working with youth through other methods of service. Leading and organizing several parent and ommunity organizations that exemplify her passion for creating the best programs for students has led Trish to raised over $200,000 that was given back to students as scholarship, building and athletic equiptment. 

 

Papillion Area Lions Club

The Papillion Area Lions club has been very involved with upholding the district's reputation for excellence through projects that have touched many students' lives throughout the years.  Through scholarship, organizations, sponsorships, and awards, the Lions Club dedication to our students has and will continue to enhance the educational experience for all Papillion-La Vista District students.
