Many donors recognize the value of continuing education for graduating seniors and want to help with the high cost the student will face when continuing their education. The Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation offers donors the opportunity to provide financial support for students by sponsoring named or unnamed scholarships.

The Foundation encourages donations to scholarships by matching every $500 received. The name of the scholarship will be at the direction of the family or major donor with the approval of the Foundation Board of Directors.

For each $500 received in donations from either a single donor or multiple donors, a $1,000 named scholarship will be awarded for one year to a graduating senior. (Example: For $500 received in donations, a one year scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded. For $1,500 received in donations, three years of $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.)

Scholarship donations totaling less than $500 will be combined with other funding sources and included in a $1,000 scholarship with the honoree’s name included in the scholarship information.

The Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation Board of Directors selects the scholarship winners through criteria and guidelines recommended by the family and approved by the board. A contact person may be designated by the family or major donor for participation in the presentation of the scholarship at the high school’s honor’s program.

For the school year 2008, fourteen $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Ten scholarships are for general academic criteria, two are for graduating seniors who either worked for Kids Club or attended Kids Club for one academic year, and two scholarships are for vocational/technical school.
